Whatever it is, find the quickest exit from where you are. For example, if it’s a job loss, getting counselling as quickly as possible will get your mental health back on track. This in turn will enable you to think straight about the next steps.
Every setback is a teacher. You just have to pay attention and pick the lessons. Just ask yourself – what am I learning from this? What is this teaching me? Take mental or written notes.
It’s not enough to learn, you have to get up. The tactic here is to ask yourself about the immediate action you can take to get out of the slumber or slump. Getting up might mean knocking on doors for that new job or getting the extra sale.
Once you start moving, do not stop. Pick up the pace and run. Find ways to run faster than ever before because you will be wiser by that time. In the process, you will be stronger and wiser if you do not stop but keep going and making better choices than before.
